Chennai is very special for me. I am brought up here in Chennai. Schools and Colleges are plenty. Wherever i studied, i loved the environment.
I live in South Chennai. Its a peaceful life. During birthday of Kamal Haasan At 12am me and my friend used to go to airport and surrounded area for supervising the person pasting posters on behalf of Kamal Haasan Welfare Movement. Under which we do blood donation, organ donation, charity, feeding poor people and more charity. And yes, I am proud to be a fan of him. He is more than a film artist. We call him Alwarpet Almighty (Alwarpettai Andavar in tamil)
Cinema theaters- Vetrivel (nanganallur), Devi (Mount Road), Sathyam (Royapettah), S2Thyagaraja(Thiruvanmiyur), Escape (Express Avenue), Abirami (Purasaiwakkam), Vetri (Chrompet), Kamala (Vadapalani), Ega (Chetpet), Prarthana Drive-in(Injambakkam, ECR), Mayajaal (ECR), INOX (Mylapore), PVR , LUXE (Velachery)—- are my favorite theaters. Sathyam is best for its good sound effects and mainly the seats for sitting.
Bad luck in Chennai is TRAFFIC. You cant reach your destination that easily even the distance is as less as it can be. My favorite locations are Besant Nagar Beach (Elliots Beach or Bessy Beach), Marina Beach, Adyar, Nanganallur, Mount Road & Parrys- where i wander to buy accessories for anything, Foreshore Estate (ha.. its a heaven for me. as i studied,worked and grown up in and around adyar.) Lot of hangout spots available between marina and adyar, which includes KFC, Coffee Day, Hot Breads, Subway and many spots for chit-chat. Though there are much more relaxing locations in chennai, nothing matches the seashore areas like Bessy, Thiruvanmiyur and Marina.
Its tough to live in Chennai if you don’t own a house. OMG! Rent for houses are higher. For example, there are bigger independent house in Southern part of Tamil Nadu like Thanjavur, Trichy, Kumbakonam districts for a rent of Rs.6000/- per month where as in Chennai u have to pay minimum Rs.6000/- for a single bed room apartment.
Real Estate- Lots of efficient flat promoters available. Owning a house/apartment in areas like Anna Nagar, Adyar, Alwarpet, Mylapore, Nanganallur and surrounded locations adds prestige to the owners. Those who have invested in 1990s are seeing a greater profit margin.
There are some places in chennai where you have to be alert any time; those places include mainly North Chennai. And yes, crimes do occur everywhere. But most of the cause has a North Madras origin. It is the oldest part of the city. Also when you go to Chindadripet/Pudhupettai, be careful about your vehicle. Theives will easily dismantle the automobile parts and loot yours.
